Titled Valentine’s Day, this work is meant to be a celebration of my favorite day of the year. I created daily paintings for the month of January leading up to creating this work, and honed in on my favorite moments to create this larger immersive painting. My painting is ultimately made intuitively and about stopping to experience it all, which I find a beautiful parallel to Valentine’s Day itself. The love, celebration, joy, little moments, and everything in between. Abstraction is life-giving to me and a way I find truth in my emotions. When people look at my paintings, I want them to feel the joy, blind optimism, and enchantment through color, line, shape. Looking closer. The hidden notes and phrases. Saying I love you. The positivity and gratitude I feel for my life. Being able to stop for a moment to enjoy it all.
