Sarah Landmesser is an artist from Greenville, South Carolina. Currently she is working in Athens, Georgia and recently studied abroad in Cortona, Italy. Primarily, her work deals with abstraction drawing on abstract expressionists and women like Joan Mitchell who continue to inform her practice. She is passionate about using color boldly both in painting and in textiles, and her love for bright color comes through in all her work.
If you would've asked her at five, what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would've responded an artist. Now at 21, the answer has remained the same. Her love of color and surface design across mediums lead her to focusing on textile design.
Landmesser will receive both her BFA in Fabric Design and a BBA in Marketing in May of 2023. When she is not in Lamar Dodd School of Art or Terry College of Business, you can often find her "calling the Dawgs" leading campus tours to prospective high school students. She also serves on the Dodd Board of Visitors, as a voice for students to notable alumni and donors on the direction of Lamar Dodd School of Art.
